The Jokhang Temple has experienced enormous increases and reproductions since the seventh century and especially during the reign of fifth Dalai Lama in the seventeenth century. While parts of the current sanctuary structure date from Potala Palace Tibet prior occasions, a large portion of the wall paintings are from the eighteenth and nineteenth hundreds of years and barely any statues (with the outstanding exemption of the Joyo Sakyamuni) are more seasoned than the 1980's. The sanctuary was sacked a few times during Mongol invasions yet its most exceedingly awful treatment has been because of the Chinese since their control of Tibet in 1959. The Jokhang is the most commended sanctuary in Tibet. Since the sanctuary isn't constrained by a specific organization of Tibetan Buddhism it pulls in disciples of the considerable number of factions just as adherents of Bon-Po, Tibet's indigenous religion. Three journey circuits exist in Lhasa, each guiding pioneers to the Jowo Sakyamuni statue: the Lingkhor, which surrounds the city's consecrated region; the Barkhor, which encases the Jokhang sanctuary; and the Nangkhor, a custom hallway inside the Jokhang. Consistently during the time several pioneers circumambulate every one of these three circuits. A few pioneers will cover the whole separation by prostrating each couple of feet, and others will walk gradually, reciting hallowed mantras and turning hand-held supplication wheels. For in excess of a thousand years a large number of travelers have trod these sacrosanct ways with commitment in their souls; this aggregate centering of goal and love has accused the Jokhang of a massively incredible field of holiness.

Later Princess Tritsun assembled Jokhang Temple to suit the Jowo Sakyamuni matured 12 brought to Tibet by Princess Wencheng. Potala Palace : Potala Palace was the winter royal residence of the Dalailama, which was initially worked in the seventh century by the ruler Sotsen Gampo and revamped to the current size by the fifth Dalai lama in the seventeenth century.
